Former White House Chief Strategist and longtime Trump confidant, Steve Bannon, has dropped a major claim regarding U.S. foreign policy. Speaking on ongoing Middle East affairs, Bannon alleged that Senator Marco Rubio’s current visit to Israel is tied to renewed efforts for regime change in Iran.
“Rubio’s in Israel right now. And trust me, my sources are impeccable, they’re still pushing regime change in Iran. Yep, yep, yep,” Bannon declared, suggesting that behind-the-scenes discussions between U.S. and Israeli officials are focused on undermining Tehran’s government.

These comments come at a time of heightened tension between the United States, Israel, and Iran, with disputes over Iran’s nuclear program, regional influence, and U.S.-imposed sanctions continuing to dominate diplomatic and security conversations.
While Rubio’s office has not confirmed or denied these allegations, Bannon’s remarks are fueling debates over whether Washington is preparing for a more aggressive posture toward Tehran—potentially reigniting memories of past U.S. interventions in the Middle East.
Analysts caution that such rhetoric could inflame already fragile regional dynamics, especially as Iran continues to deepen ties with Russia and China.
