The Ashanti Regional Security Coordinator, Captain (Retired) John Kwame Jabari, has issued a no-nonsense warning to individuals in the region falsely presenting themselves as national security operatives — especially those with alleged political affiliations.
In a firm statement, Capt. Jabari declared plans to write formal letters to the Ashanti Regional Minister, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Regional Chairman, and other key stakeholders, condemning what he described as “nonsense” and dangerous impersonation of security authority.
“We are going to write letters to the Regional Minister, Regional Chairman and serve warning to all party members in Ashanti Region parading themselves as national security operatives, because we will not take this nonsense from them anymore,” Capt. Jabari stated.
Growing Concern Over Fake Operatives
There have been growing reports of unauthorized individuals claiming to be affiliated with national security, allegedly intimidating civilians or gaining undue access to sensitive areas. The trend has raised alarm among both residents and genuine law enforcement officers.
The Ashanti Region, considered a political powerhouse and often a hotspot during election seasons, has seen heightened security activity in recent months — and this warning appears to be a preemptive move to avoid escalation.
Political Implications
While Capt. Jabari did not name specific individuals or political parties, his direct mention of “party members” has fueled political tension, especially as Ghana approaches a crucial electoral cycle. His statement may trigger internal party investigations or denials from regional party leadership.
Observers say this bold stance from the Regional Security Coordinator could draw national attention to a long-standing issue that has often been swept under the rug.
What’s Next?
As letters are being drafted and circulated to regional authorities, all eyes will be on the response from political leadership in the Ashanti Region. Capt. Jabari’s message is loud and clear: security credibility is non-negotiable, and political manipulation of security institutions will no longer be tolerated.
